Betting tips: Ymer vs. Ramos-Vinolas and Furness vs. Luz

Two betting analyses for today on the following events:
  • Mikael Ymer vs. Albert Ramos-Vinolas (ATP Winston Salem)
  • Evan Furness vs. Orlando Luz (Warsaw challenger)

Tennis – Winston Salem R1: Mikael Ymer vs. Albert Ramos-Vinolas

Mikael Ymer is having a very solid season. Turning 23 years old next month, the player from Sweden has solidified his place into the top 100 as his performances showed this season, especially in the slams (R2 at Wimbledon, R3 at both the French Open and the Australian Open). Ymer does not really have a favorite surface. On outdoor hard court, his career record is very solid (40 wins – 22 losses).

Albert Ramos-Vinolas had a good week in Cincinnati, beating Taylor Fritz in the opening round before losing a close three setters to Matteo Berrettini. It has to be mentioned that both opponents were not at 100% in this tournament due to recent injury. Ramos-Vinolas has a 93-102 record on outdoor hard court, his best performance was beating Roger Federer in Shanghai in 2015.

Both players are very solid from the baseline, they both play a steady and quite defensive game, but Ymer has proved recently to be the better defender. The Swede has a very frustrating game for the opponent when things are clicking.

Prediction: Ymer should be more solid and versatile. We back Ymer to win (Match odds).

Tennis – Warsaw R1: Evan Furness vs. Orlando Luz

Evan Furness just turned 23 years old and is having the best season of his young career. He is currently ranked #295 in the world. With a 42-20 record since the start of the year (23 wins – 15 losses on clay), the player from France is hoping to do as well as in Oeiras where he reached the semifinals back in April, which turned out to be his best achievement so far this season.

Orlando Luz is on a very similar dynamic. The player from Brazil is also aged 23 and reached his best ranking this season (#272). His clay record is particularly good this year with 35 wins and 17 losses. More importantly, Luz just reached the final in San Marino challenger, which confirmed his very good form.

Both players faced each other recently in Milan, Luz won the match 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. The betting odds have the Brazilian as a slight favorite so far (around 1.80), we like these odds.

Prediction: given recent history, we believe there is good value on Luz to come out on top once more. We back: Luz to win (Match odds).
