Betting tips: Ramos-Vinolas vs. Pouille and Draper vs. Tirante

Two betting analyses for today on the following events:
  • Albert Ramos-Vinolas vs. Lucas Pouille (US Open)
  • Jack Draper vs. Thiago Agustin Tirante (Como challenger)

Tennis – US Open R1: Albert Ramos-Vinolas vs. Lucas Pouille

Albert Ramos-Vinolas had an interesting week in Cincinnati, defeating Taylor Fritz in the opening round before losing a very tight three setters to Matteo Berrettini. The Spanish player has a 93-103 career record on outdoor hard court, his most memorable performance was beating Roger Federer in Shanghai in 2015.

Lucas Pouille was once a top 10 player (in 2019) and it now feels a very long time ago. The Frenchman was very unfortunate with injuries and is very short on confidence at the moment. Pouille won only 7 matches this season. Last week in Winston Salem, he was again bothered by a back pain in his loss to Daniel Evans.

Ramos-Vinolas is a very steady baseliner with no big weapon, but his game can be frustrating especially in best of 5 sets. Pouille does not seem close to his best form, especially when it comes to fitness, the Spaniard should prove too tough for him tomorrow.

Prediction: Ramos-Vinolas is the fitter and more solid player at the moment. We back Ramos-Vinolas to win (Match odds).

Tennis – Como R1: Jack Draper vs. Thiago Agustin Tirante

Jack Draper made a name of himself during the grass season earlier this year. The 19 years old player from Great Britain surprised many by winning a set against the eventual Wimbledon winner and world #1 Novak Djokovic. Before that, Draper defeated Jannik Sinner and Alexander Bublik in the Queens event. On clay, the British player has a decent record (13 wins – 5 losses).

Thiago Agustin Tirante just turned 20 years old, and like most players from Argentina, clay is his favorite surface. His best results this season were reaching the final in Trieste and the semifinals in Barletta (just last week), both challenger events played on Tirante's best surface.

Both players are very close at the world ranking, around the #270 mark, nevertheless Tirante has proved to be the better clay player, without a doubt.

Prediction: given recent history on the surface, we believe there is good value on the Argentinean to prevail. We back: Tirante to win (Match odds).
